The Balik Nama (vehicle ownership transfer) procedure and its BBNKB (Bea Balik Nama Kendaraan Bermotor — the regional ownership transfer duty) are intended to lawfully transfer ownership of a used vehicle to the new owner on the STNK (Surat Tanda Nomor Kendaraan — the vehicle registration certificate) and BPKB (Buku Pemilik Kendaraan Bermotor — the vehicle ownership book) documents.

What if the vehicle comes from outside Central Kalimantan Province?
A vehicle from another province must first go through the incoming transfer (Mutasi Masuk) process before the ownership transfer can be handled at a Samsat office in Central Kalimantan.
Is the previous owner's KTP still required?
The previous owner's KTP is not mandatory as long as the original stamped sale and purchase receipt and the new owner's KTP are in order.
